Player of the month February 2009

Player: Stu Wilson
Position: Forward
Team: Maksymum Jr. Hockey

A strong February performance propelled Stu from 8th place to the 4th leading scorer for the season. This 17 year old forward is a 2nd year veteran from Pittsford, NY who has come into his own this season as one of the League's premier players. On a tear in February, Stu had 7 goals and 22 points in his last 13 games. A key man on special teams with 4 PP goalies and 1 shortie, Stu totaled 13 points in odd man situations. Add to this the fact that 2 of his goals were game winners and his importance to the Maksymum squad can't be overstated. Over the season, Stu played in all 44 games and garnered 71 points. 28 of these points were on special teams. His PIMS are remarkable. In 44 trysts, he picked up 8 penalty minutes. That's not a misprint...4 minors in 44 games. If the League had a Lady Byng, it would be hard to argue against Stu as the leading candidate.
