Rochester Shuts Out Pics and Splits With Glades

Rochester StarsRochester hit the road Friday and travelled to Springfield for the 1st of a 3 day road trip ending in Vermont. The first game against the Pics was a rematch of the 1st round playoff series between the 2 teams last season. Last season the Pics swept the 2 game series against Rochester ending their season.

Friday night was all about Gordon Ceasar. Coming off of a shutout in his last start vs Applecore, Ceasar was once again up to the starting task. Ceasar turned away 39 shots keeping his shutout streak to 6 periods of hockey. Dan Broderick scored his 4th goal of the season shorthanded in the 1st period. It was a great feed from linemate James Poston to give Rochester a 1-0 lead. Bobby Sokol scored in the 1st frame giving Rochester a 2-0 lead. Dylan Shapiro and Kevin Chilton has assists. Rochester never looked back. It was a great 2 way game.

Saturday morning Rochester departed for Burlington Vermont. Again, Ceasar led the way in net. Ceasars finally gave up a goal in the 2nd period and the scoreless streak ended at 7 periods. That was the only goal as Ceasar turned away 35 shots en route to a 3-1 victory. Tyler Sheppard gave Rochester the early lead scoring in the 2nd period with an assist to Kevin Chilton. Dylan Shapiro is credited with the game winner on his goal in the 2nd period. Tyler Wolf put the game out of reach in the 3rd period ending the tightly contested matchup.

Game 3 saw Rochester jump out to an early lead on a goal by James Poston. after Green mountain tied it at 1 a piece, Michael Chvostek scored on the power play to give Rochester a 2-1 lead. Green mountain bounced back and had a 3-2 lead going into the 3rd period. Both teams exchanged power plays and opportunities as Green Mountain ended it with an empty net goal late in the game.
